How we spend our day...
Managing
time is a precious skill. Managing time wisely can lead to better
health, less stress, and a better life. If each part of the child´s day
is clearly understood, recognized, and attended too, the day will go
more smoothly and the child will get more out of it. Creating an
appropriate schedule communicates that children are valued and
respected.
Appropriate
scheduling offers many benefits. It can address many goals of the early
childhood curriculum, facilitate the development of intelligence, and
communicate the value of a child's time.
Your child´s daily activities are balanced, to include ample time for play, resting, and eating.
You
will find below sample daily schedules for our different classes. We
want to make it clear that our schedules are very flexible.
The well
being of our children is our first concern at all times. If children are
tired or upset, teachers vary their plans.
deras planer.

Explanation of Scheduling
Arrival - The arrival of the children is a critical and important part of the
day. It is important for parents to drop their child/children in a
positive mood and the greeting from teacher. Children will be provided a
few co-operative and individual activities that they can work on during
this time.
Centers - This special time of the day allows the children to work independently or in small groups.
Breakfast
- We provide fruits, yogurt with cereals or porridge during breakfast.
If your child is not attending breakfast make sure that he/she has
proper breakfast at home.
Circle time/Sharing time
- During this time the teacher shares expectations, communicate
important information and discuss the day´s plans. This activity invites
all children to participate. Children can share family events, or talk
about an item they brought to school that day, calendar time, sing songs
and dance etc. By having sharing time, children begin to learn about
other children, cultures and families. This opening activity also
encourages the growth of interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence.
Activity time/Project time
- This is a time for collaborative efforts between children and
teachers and apply understanding of a significant discovery or interest.
It can be teacher directed activities or project initiated by the
teacher or a child. This activity time will include planned
theme-activity projects such as Letterland, Math, Science, Music and
movement, Arts and crafts, and Cookery.
Outdoor/Gross Motor Play
- This time of the day the children are out exploring the outdoors,
observing and playing. The outdoors offers children with and respect for
nature, science, math, weather, language and spatial concepts. The
children are out at the parks like Grönavallen,
Stenåldersboplatsen(Stoneage park)and other neighboring parks or
gardens.
Meal times (Lunch and Snacks)
- Good experiences at mealtimes help children to develop positive
attitudes towards food and nutrition. We provide lunch from a catering
company called "A Green Catering AB". Weekly menus are provided on the
bulletin board of each class. Snack is also an important part of the
children's day. It can allow the older children to feel responsible by
giving them the opportunity to set the table, fix and arrange the snack
according to the theme and clean-up. Snack menu is also provided on the
bulletin board of each class. In addition we serve a variety of fresh
fruits daily.
Rest time
- It is necessary to provide a rest or nap time in early childhood
programs. Rest time gives the child the opportunity to sleep or relax
after morning of hard work. The children are provided with soft music, a
quiet atmosphere, cosy blankets and madrases, and are allowed to bring
stuffed personal toys from home.
Music and movement
- An early childhood program that includes time for music and movement
provides an outlet for children's high spirits and creative energy. We
engage children in music and movement activities in many different ways
like listening, singing, moving to music, playing instruments and
imitating/representing movement.
Play/Free play
- Play is an important and valuable part of the child´s day. Play
offers an opportunity to develop all the intelligence, form
relationships, work on strengths, and addresses challenges. During this
time children choose on what they want to play.
The Role of Teachers
Teachers
are seen as facilitators. As educators we carefully listen, observe and
document children´s work and the growth of community in our classrooms.
We stimulate children´s thinking, and encourage children´s
collaboration with peers. Children´s learning is embedded in a
supportive context. We join our students in activities of their
choosing, and respect each child´s right to move through the curriculum
at his or her own pace. We provide an emotionally supportive
environment, set up to respect a range of developmental levels.
We believe that each child is unique and develops in his or her own pace.
We believe that each child needs opportunities to play, think, communicate, and reflect.
We believe that each child is a valued member of the group.
At
Creative Kids Preschool we firmly believe that education is a process, a
step-by-step life-long progression, and building a proper foundation of
this process is our goal.
